Residential Program for Children with Autism |
Overview
The Residential Program for Children with Autism at Great Circle is dedicated to the treatment of children and adolescents who struggle with the challenging social and emotional effects of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Treatment at Great Circle is intensive and designed to individually address each child’s sensory, psychosocial and educational needs. The program will open in January 2010 and is designed to serve children and adolescents who have diagnoses such as:
Autism spectrum disorder
- Asperger syndrome
- Communication disorders
We also provide services to children who have:
- Attention problems
- Severe behavior issues
- Emotional issues
- Sensory processing deficits
Services
Services are focused and individually customized for children and adolescents, boys and girls ages 5 to 14, who need stabilization and treatment. Services may include:
- Sensory rooms and individual sensory diets to meet the needs of each child
- Picture Exchange Communication System to foster functional communication skills
- Individual, group and family therapy
- Special education in an on-campus school
- Nursing, psychiatric, medical, psychosocial and educational evaluation consultation
- Physical education and recreation therapy
- Occupational, speech, language, art and music therapies
- Social and life skills training

Accreditations The school at Edgewood Children’s Center is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS). The Residential Program for Children with Autism is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
