Believing In Me
Sarah, who lost both of her parents and her brother, came into our care and now shares with us her story.
When I arrived in residential care and then at my foster parents’ home, people started paying attention to me, praising me for the good things I did, supporting me in what I was thinking, not comparing me to my family, just accepting me for me. Not a lot of kids get that chance. Now I know I can do better and that I will have someone helping me, supporting me and not judging me. My foster parents encourage me to think for myself and have my own thoughts and ideas, even if they aren’t the same as everyone else. I wanted more for me, and I am going to get it. It was the residential care staff, my foster care case manager and my foster parents who helped me and believed in me.
