Edgewood School

Helping children improve the way that they function in the school environment is the most important goal of Edgewood's School. Edgewood staff starts to work with children at an earlier age than many programs. Their hard work and long-term dedication help children obtain the skills that they need to function in a regular school environment.

Edgewood's School is a fully accredited Special Education School, licensed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Illinois State Board of Education.

The expansive 23-acre campus nestled in Webster Groves, Missouri boasts two school sites with 1st through 12th grade programs, and an additional program that focuses on treating children with communication disorders such as Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. The South St. Louis satellite location within the Affton neighborhood houses a 1st through 6th grade program.

Program Description

Edgewood offers special education classes for students aged 3-17. Its year-round program includes a six-week extended school year. The professional staff of Special Education Teachers and licensed clinical social worker/therapists, work together to provide educational treatment to students and their families, while a dedicated staff of specially trained volunteers offer classroom assistance and provide additional support to the educational program.

Edgewood's School prepares students to be successful in less restrictive school environments. The program includes ungraded classrooms of eight students, led by a certified Special Education teacher. Each student follows an individual plan for education, developed in cooperation and consultation with the student's parents and professionals from the referring school district.
