Therapist – in specialized unit with children who self-harm

Position Summary:

This position will provide social casework, social group work, and counseling services at a professional level, including intensive therapeutic planning and interventions. This position reports to the Director of Social Services.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Secures information in regard to the client from various sources and prepares a psychosocial assessment in accordance with JCAHO standards.
  • Takes a leadership role at team meetings and secures information which is included in weekly progress notes, initial treatment plans, treatment plans, progress summaries, transfer summaries, release or discharge summaries and which is submitted to various agencies within the established time frames.
  • Utilizes a computer in preparing professional written reports and summaries for various agencies within the established time frame.
  • Interviews clients no less than once per week for treatment purposes, conducts individual and group therapy sessions with clients on a weekly basis, and maintains ongoing contacts with staff, families, referring agencies, and others involved in the treatment process.
  • When required, attends court hearings, permanency planning meetings, and other such conferences in various areas throughout the state for the purpose of reporting on the client's progress and engaging in future planning.
  • Actively participates in the stress challenge and summer recreational programs; such as week-long canoe trips, School in the Wilderness, etc.; by providing clients with instruction, guidance, supervision, and controls.
  • Maintains records of accountability within established time frames.
  • Performs administrative and/or other duties on weekends, holidays, and whenever deemed necessary by the Director of Residential Services or the Regional Vice President.
  • Any other duties as assigned for the betterment of GREAT CIRCLE.

Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work or an equivalent behavioral science.
  • Must hold a valid Missouri license as a LCSW, LPC, Psychologist, or be eligible and able to obtain a provisional license.
  • Preferably some experience in residential treatment, child welfare, or mental health setting.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of engaging in strenuous physical activities in the stress challenge programs.
  • Typing skills.
  • Possess a current, valid driver's license and meet the GREAT CIRCLE requirements for insurance.
