Fostering Futures Therapist

Position Summary:

Fostering Futures is designed to help foster children remain in one foster home for a year. The Therapist provides individual and/or family therapy services to address issues that could lead to disruptions in the placement and/or in a school setting to children that demonstrate a high involvement need to maintain placement. This position is supervised by the Fostering Futures Program Supervisor and Therapist.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a therapy caseload as prescribed by the grant funder (1:12 or 1:15).
  • Complete assessment of referred children and families, assess children and families level of needs and develop behavioral targeted treatment plan.
  • Complete therapeutic interventions consisting of individual, and/or family therapy as needed for all assigned parents and children.
  • Provide progress reports or other information to the Fostering Futures Program Supervisor and Therapist and/or Community Services Director as requested to document program outcomes.
  • Assist in the data collection system designated by the funding source and Great Circle census.
  • Respond to crisis calls from children and families including having face-to-face contact with the parents and children as needed.
  • Assist parents to stabilize placements and avoid placement disruption by improving their abilities to care for behaviorally challenged youth and provide appropriate therapeutic and educational information based on the needs of each child.
  • Maintain weekly contact with children and families working on primary and secondary behavior goals.
  • Document all service delivery utilizing Great Circle's FAMCare system, and as needed for Medicaid/insurance billing.
  • Maintain contact with referring case managers/workers/referral source and engage the child's school on an ongoing basis for the assigned children in caseload.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist Great Circle program implementation and quality of care to families and children served, and any other duties as assigned for the betterment of Great Circle.

Education and Experience:

  • All candidates for this position must possess a Master's degree in social work or counseling, or a PhD in Psychology, and be licensed and billable in the State of Missouri.
  • Candidates must have experience with the child welfare and foster care system and an extensive knowledge of child and adolescent development, attachment theory, and parenting interventions.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license and meet Great Circle's requirements for insurance.
